Specialisation: Land resources management

The coexistence of human activities and natural resources often leads to use conflicts. This theme is about developing knowledge and understanding about the sustainable development of different land use systems, taking into account human well-being and the health of ecosystems. There must be a balance between  economic development, the community and environmental protection (people-planet-profit). In this theme, students are introduced to sustainable use of different types of land systems in urban areas, forest areas and the coast.

Research topics that will be discussed are sustainable land use for different sectors, land use changes, and spatial planning for the sustainable management of the socio-ecological system.
