Specialisation: Sustainable food systems

Sustainable food systems are essential to ensure that all people around the world have access to safe, nutritious and affordable food. There are currently many challenges to ensure this food security and hundreds of millions of people experience malnutrition and the health problems associated with insufficient food. These challenges will increase in the coming years due to population growth, climate change and the increasing demand for land, water and energy.

Students will be able to sustainably optimize agricultural production in terms of water, energy and land use and reduced use of agrochemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides to protect biodiversity.
